NATIONAL COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EXPERTS (NCEE)
The UNDP South Africa Country Office is seeking the expression of interest from individual consultants who will undertake the stakeholder engagement processes necessary to revise and update the social and environmental risk management instruments for the project: Development of Value Chains for Products Derived from Genetic Resources in Compliance with the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit Sharing and The Draft National Biodiversity Economy Strategy. The instruments will include the safeguards risk screening procedure (SESP), various environmental and social impact assessments and management plans, in line with UNDP’s Social and Environmental Standards Policy (2021). Consultations will include engagement with rural communities from whom Free, Prior and Informed Consent will be sought for certain project activities, and a diversity of other project partners and stakeholders. In executing the assignment, the community engagement expert will work in close collaboration with and under the leadership of an International Safeguards Expert who will be responsible for final delivery of the required safeguards instruments.
There are two consultancies for, one Xhosa speaking and the other for Afrikaans speaking individuals.
